A Better LinkedIn Profile Picture , My Mission

I seem to see so many bad Linkedin photos. I thought , I would take keyboard in hand and lay down some hints for a better image as You complete your profile. First , Yes You need a real image not a gray silhouette. Unless You are hiding from some agency , known only by letters. having a great portrait is more important than ever for today’s savvy professional. Next lets talk about those dizzy garden backgrounds. It is good to show You are a fun loving soul but those kind of shots are really only good for Facebook and other social networks.  Nothing beats a tipsy photo like a clean white background.  LinkedIn is a place where Business Professionals connect.

No Stripes. Think about the phrase ” Dress for Success ” think solids  over patterns .As Angela Rea  of Angela Rea PR [www.angelareapr.com ] did when she made a recent visit to my studio Leave the company logo at home so image will not be removed by LinkedIn [ They do have rules ] No matter what you choose to wear, make sure that it’s totally comfortable and flattering. Yes , You need your pants as a half body shot is also a good idea to be taken while at the photographer’s studio. I do lean to the head and shoulder as the LinkedIn photo box is not a large opening. Along with making the right clothing choices, do not forget to think natural for your hair, makeup, and jewelry. When  You are packing to visit the photography Studio, do not forget leave your attitude at the curb. Think positive , it really shows.
